We are never going to get home. It was a thought that I had on a regular basis throughout pretty much the entire duration of 2015 straight through into the start of this year. But in the blink of an eye it all seems like a distant memory, like a hazy dream you’d rather just put to the back of your mind. Even the simplest of DIY jobs or home improvements can quite often turn out to be a lot more trouble than originally expected. So knocking an entire bungalow down to rebuild was never going to come without any complications…
It shook our stable little family life up to pieces, literally. We uprooted to Nan’s, and ended up living there for over a year. Although we were incredibly fortunate, it was never home. It was a stressful, unsettling period. Then it also had plenty of exciting moments along the way too though. We watched as our home was torn down to the ground to its resurrection back to life again.
The enormity of the project was a constant challenge. Somehow though, we did what The Tree family always does: we battled our way through it. And I bloody love us for that. Its encouraging having parents who set an example of determination and hard work. Now finally we get to enjoy the outcome of their efforts, and quite honestly, nobody deserves it more than my Mum and Dad.
I’m so excited for our Christmas here together this year, I have a feeling its going to be a very special one.
